Think TV dating show Love Island but with weapons and where relationship issues are portrayed by physical enemies, and you're some ways towards understanding Roguemance—the latest pixelated project in the works from solo indie dev Lucas Molina. He plans to launch his "romantic roguelite about love and relationships" on Valentine's Day next year, but is celebrating the beginning of that journey by opening alpha signs-ups today.

Hearthstone game Director Ben Brode promised a balance patch was on its way weeks ago, and today Blizzard announced the details of that update. Nerfs to two of the game's most notorious cards, Spirit Claws and Small-Time Buccaneer, have been confirmed, and the Ranked Play ladder is also being changed with the introduction of 'Floors', which will prevent players from dropping ranks after hitting certain milestones.

VA-11 HALL-A NOW INCLUDES "REDUX" PROLOGUE CHAPTERS
http://www.pcgamer.com/va-11-hall-a-now-includes-redux-prologue-chapters/
The cyberpunk bartending sim VA-11 HALL-A didn't make a smashing impression in our review, but the user reviews on Steam are "overwhelmingly positive"—a case of a game requiring a specific audience, perhaps? However you want to look at it, fans got some good news today when developer Sukeban Games announced that a "redux" version of the prologue chapter, which was originally released in 2014, is now included with the full game.

RAW FURY OFFERS TO PAY STEAM DIRECT FEE FOR INDIE DEVELOPERS WHO CAN'T AFFORD IT
http://www.pcgamer.com/raw-fury-offers-to-pay-steam-direct-fee-for-indie-devs-who-cant-afford-it/
Last week Valve announced Steam Direct, a replacement for Greenlight which will allow any developer to submit their game to Steam for a "recoupable application fee." Valve hasn't decided what the fee will be, but says it's considering values between $100 and $5,000. For small or one-person indie developers, five grand could be well out of reach, locking them out of Steam unless they take out a loan or crowdfund. Publisher Raw Fury, known for games such as Kingdom and Gonner, has stepped in to offer help. If the fee winds up being on the expensive side, the publisher plans to cover the cost for developers who can't afford it.

>>I hope it's an honest measure (and not an attempt to earn money from the work of others once the game goes on sale) and that they pay attention to the quality of the projects submitted, unlike Valve.

MY MEMORY OF US TEASER TELLS A TALE OF CHILDREN TRAPPED IN A WAR-TIME GHETTO
http://www.pcgamer.com/my-memory-of-us-teaser-tells-a-tale-of-children-trapped-in-a-war-time-ghetto/
My Memory of Us is a game about the friendship between a young boy and girl, set in a Jewish ghetto in Poland during the Second World War. Developer Juggler Games says it will be "a truly unique, emotional" game, taking place during "times of terror, pain, and exclusion in a world where people were forced to live in two artificially detached worlds." But because it's told from the perspective of children, it also features bizarrely-anthropomorphic machines, robotic Nazis, and a visual style that's highly reminiscent of Disney shorts from the '20s and '30s.

BARD'S TALE REMASTERED TRILOGY WILL BE FINISHED, OLDE SKUUL BOSS SAYS
http://www.pcgamer.com/bards-tale-remastered-trilogy-will-be-finished-olde-skuul-boss-says/
It came to light yesterday that work on the remastered Bard's Tale trilogy, offered as a backer reward in the 2015 Bard's Tale 4 Kickstarter, had apparently stopped. A message on inXile's forums said the studio believes that "it's unlikely that Olde Skuul will finish development on the BT remasters," and mention of the trilogy had thus been removed from the Bard's Tale 4 backer's site. But Olde Skuul boss Rebecca Heineman said the message was a surprise to her, and that she still has every intention of finishing and releasing the games.

OVERWATCH LOOT BOX DROP RATES HAVEN'T CHANGED SAYS JEFF KAPLAN
http://www.pcgamer.com/overwatch-loot-box-drop-rates-havent-changed-says-jeff-kaplan/
Last year, a Reddit user by the name of Ourobouros challenged their seemingly unlucky Overwatch loot box drop rate success by attempting to calculate the odds of landing a Legendary. Take what you will from this particular assessment, however the lack of decent pick ups in Blizzard's team-based shooter has again been queried—leaving many forum users questioning whether or not the rates have been changed.
