Is it? The 3DS was $250 at launch and was barely more powerful than the PSP (which came out in 2004) and only had a resolution of 240p. Not to mention it launched with no good games until 9 months after launch. 

The 3DS launched at ¥25,000 in JP (222$ USD), in the US 249$ at launch.

What happend? it didnt sell.

So nintendo dropped the price from 249$ -> 169$ within 5months of its launch.

You still think a 299$ price point isnt a issue for those that only want it as a handheld?
