Isn`t it more of a Mojang just aren`t big enough to self publish so MS/Sony do it for them? I`m sure Microsoft and Sony were both publishing the Xbox and PlayStation versions respectively before Microsoft bought the franchise.

Yeah but the point is if MS had of bought them in time they wouldn't of let Sony publish the vita version.  They'd either have done it themselves or not released it on vita at all.
