Posting bad news (or in this case, something that is perceived as bad news by the thread creator) is a common way to post something negative without fear of consequences while at the same time it still provides gratification.

it has never been a moderatable offense to post news articles.  every bit of significant good/bad news about ms/sony/nintendo get posted by someone.  nintendo's stock double after pokemon go,.. there were several threads on that.  nintendo's stock dropped 18% after releasing a statement saying that pokemon go's impact on nintendo's financials is limited,.. obviously there was going to be a thread about that too.  it's not like this is a blog post filled with inflammatory statement in attempts to skirt the rules around flamming.

this is news,. cold, hard, objective news.  a thing happened, this article simply informs you as to what happened.

i'm not sure exactly where the rules line up on this one but imo,. the only moderatable posts in this thread are the ones derailing a thread that was being quite cival solely on the grounds that they don't like the person that posted a perfectly valid source of news without any inflammatory commentary.

but that's just my opinion.

"Share price for Company X has fallen."

"Yeah, well, uh ... OP is a witch!  Burn them!"

Deflection can be fun to watch.

Actually, I look forward to this system people seem to be proposing where you can't post negative articles for a console manufacturer you don't like.  We could set up checkpoints and even build a WALL.  "Excuse me, comrade, you've posted an article about how filthy the bathrooms at NinXstation HQ are.  I need to see your Papers." (said with hand resting meaningfully on ban button)

Maybe everyone should declare which House they belong to when they sign up?  It could kind of be like Harry Potter.  Nintendor, Playstatherin, or Xboxlepuff?

Wait, let's take it a bit further:  You can only post negative news about the House to which you belong, because clearly posting positive news about your own House is also biased.

Mods, I call for an official review of this proposal.  This could be fun.
