Minecraft just recently released on the wii u whereas it was out for years on other platforms. Had it been on the wii u since day 1, it would have definitely been one of the best games despite being third party.

With regards to third parties, you have it backwards. You have been narrowing down third parties to the ones released on the wii u whereas I'm trying to say that that's not a fair representation of all third parties out there. Call of duty with virtually no dlc on the wii u does not properly represent the success that other third parties would have had, and I gave overwatch and rocket league as examples of this. Nintendo's first party studios dominating on the wii u mean nothing since there is a pitiful amount of third party support on the wii u. It's a hollow victory since they basically win by default

I'm adding in the Wii too. What you wanna look at gamecube's numbers 1st party vs 3rd? Go ahead, it's pretty much the same story, 7 first party titles take the top slots, and then sprinkled with some third and first below that.

That's 15 years of history telling you the same thing.

Regarding the GameCube, it also suffered from a lack of third party titles and people knew this (where was GTA?). Just because the third party situation was better than the wii u doesn't mean it was good third party support (again, the wii u has virtually zero third party support). Even then, the GameCube still out sold the wii u.

Likewise, your entire argument also looks at only the Nintendo line. I find it funny how you are looking towards the most unsuccessful consoles and having them represent all of gaming. Let's take a look at the most successful console in history, the PS2. That chart is dominated by mainly third party titles (and no gimmick to skew these numbers either). Third party titles made it into a giant behemoth. Same story with the PS4.

Third party matters most. Nintendo ignored this and for that there are hundreds of games that are now exclusively NOT on the wii u causing it to suffer. No amount of first party games can recover from that
