This is why NX needs to launch with specs that cross completely into 9th gen territory. Nintendo can't expect to launch a console halfway through a generation and be successful within that generation. They need to target PS5/XB2 with this one or they're really screwed.

^ You really want that 600$ nintendo console?

How often has nintendo used leading edge proccessing node technology? or gone big & costly chip designs for their consoles? or even just gone for high performance (instead of eco friendly and cool&quiet)?.

Im just saying Im not sure nintendo are capable of pulling off a "early" forced 9th gen start, by makeing a super powerfull console for its time.

Whats more likely is nintendo makes a console about as strong as a PS4, for around the same price, and finally "join" the 8th gen of consoles (performance wise). Then they need to make this one last from 2016 -> 2020, and have a new console ready for the launch of the PS5.

First of all, "generations" don't actually matter all that much. Any businessperson would take a strong sales rate and solid profit margin over having a shot at "winning" a generation any day. They're relatively artificial constructs that no person or company should be bound by.

As for rivaling the PS4 in yearly sales, if they have third party support that is just as good, then yes, they have a chance. If they come up with a new gimmick/innovation that goes viral, then yes, they have a chance.

Otherwise, no.

Nintendo is a brand in decline. They have to fix that. They can no longer depend on simply being Nintendo in order to win new consumers.

^ this.

NX is where nintendo aim to reclaim, consumer trust.

It needs to be a good system in terms of features (compaired to the PS4 & XB1) and offer basically everything they also do.

That ontop of getting 3rd party back, is how nintendo slowly claw its way back.

If they go for some gimmick and it fails to wow consumers..... ready for wii U 2.0 ? but maybe even less sales?
