You heard me.

Nintendo keeps trying so hard to innovate each generation. That's why they won the 7th gen. That's why they lost the 8th gen.

Say what you want, but the Wii U is a commercial and financial failure. Nintendo gambled and lost. And it's unfortunate really. We often praise innovation. But in my opinion too much of it is a bad thing. I see innovation as change. Change before the others change. You are the first to do something different. However too much of it can be negative. With innovation after success, you alienate those who supported your prior success. Why change so much of a good thing?

I could go on and on. But basically I will say this. Nintendo could easily compete and win any gaming generation. All they need is a less innovative console. Take the Wii u for example. Take the gamepad but offer a normal controller as well. The majority of gamers don't care about the gamepad. Defend it all you want but that's a fact. We want normal controllers. The ps4 and xbone controllers feel and play great for example.

Next, make an online system that actually works. Again, the Wii U online functionality is terrible. Call it what you want. It's bad. No cross game chat, and other features that most core gamers don't really want or care about. If Nintendo got these things right they would easily garner third party support. As of now, hey have none. Recent and upcoming games that aren't coming to Wii u: MGS5, Mad Max, The Witcher 3, Star Wars, Fallout 4, I could go on and on. Core third party popular games don't come to Wii U. Nintendo are being very ignorant by not creating a system structure that is friendly to these games and gamers that play them. With all that, plus Nintendo first party support they'd sweep away competition.

I do understand Nintendo prefers creating an inferior console power in order to support its low price. Nintendo consoles have always been the least powerful to the competition since the n64 days. But honestly they'd sell more if they gave up the price advantage in order to have a more powerful console to run these third party games.

IN CONCLUSION. Nintendo are their own worst enemy. By trying so hard to innovate all the time they lose any advantage they held prior. They could EASILY win. I love my Playstation exclusives, and I also love some of the Xbone exclusives like Halo; but nothing, I repeat NOTHING is as popular as a Mario, Zelda, Smash bros ect. They practically sit on gold and do nothing to capitalize. Games like splatoon. Yeah it's fun. Cool stuff.

I'd rather have a Nintendo console that runs Fallout. And so would many more people. If fallout 4 released next year on the Xbox 360 Or ps3 (last gen consoles) it would STILL each sell more than Splatoon lifetime. And thats just a small example. I don't get it Nintendo. You have the power. You just need to use it correctly.

I have the same worry for the NX. That they try to innovate too much and lose all 3rd party support and the core gamer because of a weak online system. I'm not saying just copy Microsoft and Sony, but for some things you should play up to competition. Unless you want to lose.

Note: this is not a thread to blindly hate Nintendo. This is my unbiased opinion and should hopefully be used for an intelligent discussion. If you are a true Nintendo fan you should want your company to be as successful as possible.
