I agree it makes no sense. Most Vita games don't get a physical release. But that would just show how even bigger gap there is between Vita and 3DS release schedules at the moment.

The reason the 3DS has a ton of exclusives is because it can't even run Wii games (as demonstrated by the fact that Xenoblade is N3DS exclusive and still cut back from the 2011 release). So if they didn't make games specifically for 1990s architechture, there wouldn't be any games full stop.

The thing is, handheld consoles were never supposed to be for playing home console games. If people wanted to do that, they would just buy a home console. Nintendo knows this, which is why the 3DS has so many games that can easily be played on the go. Sure, they don't have the graphics of Wii games and there aren't many ports, but that means little when people aren't looking for ports, but rather new games built ground up for a handheld experience.

I repeatedly see this argument. However there is no evidence whatsoever to back it up.

People buy portable consoles to play games on the move. Buying patterns on both Sony and Nintendo's consoles show that these games can be perfectly suited to home consoles (Smash Bros 3D/Minecraft/Luigi's Mansion 2/Pokemon/Resident Evil Revelations) however they are still bought on portables. The first example even being much better on the home console.

The fact that Nintendo deliberately avoid putting pokemon onto their home consoles is nothing to do with it working better as a portable game and everything to do with trying to keep some of their big titles spread so that you need both their home and portable console in order to enjoy their full content lineup.

There's a myth that 3DS is packed full of games designed to be portable while Vita is not. But if you actually studied the Vita catalogue, you'd find it ticks the "small bursts" category as well, if not better than the 3DS. This is why posters above say they prefer indie games on Vita to home consoles/PC. They feel like a better fit. Games like Tearaway are perfect handheld titles by the definitions provided so frequently and the game is excellent, still completely ignored though.
