Skyward sword didn't evolve much from other Zeldas. It doesn't exist in a vacuum so it's bound to be compared to other other games, and it just comes off as good. Not great, just good.

It's like they pulled an Uncharted 2 with Ocarena of Time but kept releasing an Uncharted 3 for more than a decade. I'm still wating for The last of Us Mr.Miyamoto....

The story was bland and non challenging with an interesting bit here and there with fan services (not an example but I liked how the Not-Ganondorf last boss actually looked like Ganondorf). The relstionship between Link and Zelda was awkwardly cute and gave the game a much needed sense of purpose and it makes a lot more sense imo. Being in love with each was part of the player projecting himself onto the game(he's name is Link because he's your link to the game world and other whimsical stuff), but eriously, why didn't they do that before?

I hope Nintendo takes the bad reception and the imminent commercial/critical success (all over again) of Majoras Mask to craft a Zelda game with a better story, themes, platforming and exploration. A link Between Worlds was a damn fine game. Keep doing watchu doing with handheld Zaldas Nintendo.
