Windows 10 is free for the first year then it's a $25 a month subscription so no I will stick with windows 8.1.

This isn't correct at all. There is no monthly or anual subscription. Once you own it you will get updates for life. You can pay a service fee (or whatever they are calling it) to get smaller, more regular updates instead of waiting for all of the updates to be released in a service pack. That is optional though, and eventually you will still get all of the updates in a released service pack.

I think that in the end we agree more than we though. I agree with most of your arguments and it seems you agree with what I was actually trying to say (but maybe I wasn't able to express properly). Yay for general agreement!

Lol, yes. The only thing I initally didn't like was you made it seem like people that refused to go to Windows 8 were doing so just to be stubborn, and that it's the "new thing" so they should just hop on board. That sentiment I cannot ever agree with. If Windows 8 was better in every way, I would agree. There was too much about jumping to Windows 8 that changed, and the only way anyone could argue that it was better was if they personally felt that way. I think Windows 8 comes down to personal preference, but I didn't see anything that it excelled at as compared to Windows 7. Better at some things? Maybe. Here's my example:

I have a program that loads in 2 seconds, it does everything I need, everything is in a simplified layout that has been used for years, and I like the interface.

A different program loads in 1 second, it does everything I need, some of the things I am used to are there, but they're buried in odd/inconvenient ways, and it has an interface that I don't like.

In this example I will always stay with what I have. The other program has a few advantages, but the good doesn't outweigh the bad. Not that the "bad" is the worst thing ever, mind you. It's just that the "bad" is an annoyance, and there is no reason to "upgrade" to something that adds annoyance if the current thing you have still does everything I need.
