From intels perspective:
"Yeah let's pull out and not be a part of this bullshit drama"

From gamersgate perspective:
Yay we won

From the medias perspective:
Better make a bigger deal of this than it needs to be because that's how clickbait works.

Blaming intel is bullshit, they have set regulations behind advertising, if enough people come forward and complain about a particular partner, the support of that partner gets pulled - NOT based on the content, but based on the complaints.

If hundreds of people complain about something that is shown on TV, the producers or the key people in the content complained about issue an apology, in extreme cases a show will be cancelled or pulled, or re-runs edited.

If 10 people who never whitnessed a murder all point the finger at the same person and stick to the same story, the judge will most likely scentence that person based on the testimony of those 10 people.

Intels action is no different here, they pulled advertisting based on the complaints, not the content.Media are just flipping their shit over it because its great clickbait, and/or they're worried about it happening again and their freedom to post clickbaity articles is put in question when they realize people can come together and call them out on it by removing the very reason they write the articles to begin with - ad revenue.
