There were too many unknowns truely. It could because of potential oil money, if invested correctly but there are many things that may also have to occur, taxes may go up, cuts made or current policies dropped. But with no official currency, some of their main banks being in UK government hands due to bail outs (so they'd split ownership but still) and taking on 8-10% of the UK national debt, again too many unknowns.
