Lack of 3rd party support is part of why Wii U is in the position it's in today. If you like Wii U being in that position then fine. But if you would rather Wii U was in a much better position you should not be actively trying to alienate people who can help improve Wii U's fortunes. Though I suspect it's too late for this generation.

While I'm here, though, the article is about how Nintendo is instead using the inherent lack of 3rd party support to work on exclusives with 3rd parties rather than trying to "woo" them into coming back on their own.  What better way to get 3rd party support than to work with them on making an exclusive game for your system?

Well in that case the title should be "why lack of 3rd party multiplatform games on Wii U may be a blessing". Because 3rd party exclusives on Wii U = 3rd party support, only in a different form. And yes if you can get quantity AND quality from 3rd parties that way it is a good strategy to compensate for lack of multiplatform 3rd party support. However if a large proportion of the consle fanbase follows the big selling 3rd party multiplatform games, and even when Wii U gets those games they are lesser quality renditions of what's on PS4 and Xb one, then going your own way with mostly niche 3rd party exclusives is only going to get you so far.

I wouldn't call it a blessing, though.
