The poll suggests that the Wii U is the most anticipated? Surely you realize that the internet is not the best representative for "anticipation" and especially "sales" right? I personally don't remember any realistic racers on WIi and if they exist, they certainly had no impact. Blue ocean is a risk that may or may not work when introducing a product to brand new potential consumers but at this stage in the game, I think it's safe to say the 8th gen has a negligible amount of such consumers.

In that regard, I can argue that most people who've invested in the 8th gen know what they're getting into with each company. Thus racing sim enthusiasts are not going to be prioritising the Wii U. PC is the best choice for this game by far. It's seems more of a case of a few people have invested in the wii U and now want ports instead of buying another console but one has to wonder that if such people had enough spare moneyt to crowd  fund games, they can afford a high end PC for the best version or at least PS4/X1s for what would surely be better versions of the game.

Your drought analogy is terrible because we're talking about an essential human need compared to plain old entertainment and somehow I doubt that apples would be a priority for people actually facing a drought. Drinking water would probably come first, then staple carbs/protein sources before stuff like apples.

The poll does suggest that the Wii U is the most anticipated. Why? Because people not-on-the-internet don't know about the game yet. Note that I said anticipation, not sales, so I don't know why you mentioned sales. But here's the key - the more avid the fan, the more they'll talk up the game to others, which drives interest without need for advertising. If Wii U Project Cars fans on the internet were so avid as to have such an impact on the polls, to be so vocal now, etc, then imagine what happens when they tell all of their friends about what happened... and they're not going to tell their friends "these guys screwed Wii U over, so go and buy the game on another system".

And the point about the blue ocean is that it's not just something to do with "casuals". It's about selling to people who haven't been catered to before. And it's not entirely about current Wii U owners; it's also about future Wii U owners. And if Project Cars had been THE racing sim of the Wii U, then all the people who bought a Wii U with the game become fans specifically of that series, and when Project Cars 2 comes along, they buy that, too. It's a lot harder on a system with more competition because you have to outdo them, do so in a way that captures a lot of fans, and then manage to remain ahead of the competition with future releases.

As for the drought analogy, I think you need to learn what an analogy is, because it's not meant to capture every facet perfectly. The whole point of the analogy was to explain the concept of supply and demand to people like you who don't seem to comprehend it.

You know what really saddens me? The way that so many gamers respond to this situation by going "Wii U players are being unreasonable"... but have no problem whinging when Bayonetta 2 is Wii U exclusive. The way that so many gamers will place companies over their fellow gamers. The way that they default to apologism, and attack the fans who are disappointed for daring to be disappointed and upset.
