This is the original article posted on October 2013, two months before the announcement of Hyrule Warriors.

In an interview with Mashable, Aonuma was asked if he could reveal anything about the forthcoming Zerlda Wii U game and he simply replied: "I'll say more at E3 2014."

However, the Zelda series producer did discuss how Nintendo is considering how to incorporating an open world mechanic. "I think the most open-world Zelda we've had so far has been Wind Waker, just because you were able to sail the ocean and go all over the islands," added Aonuma. "When creating a game, we look at what is the core, kernel gameplay. You try to construct the game around that, and making that core mechanic the easiest to access.

"For Skyward Sword, that kind of narrowed, focused world helped us with that, but at the same time it meant you didn't have that wide-open world to explore. We've heard the complaint about lack of openness from a lot of fans. As we're deciding what the core gameplay mechanic was, we have that open-world desire at the forefront of our minds, and we're trying to figure out how to incorporate that as well."

Yet, it looks as if we're going to have to wait a while before discovering more about Nintendo's plans for the next Zelda game.

Now, what if whatever Aonuma was talking about E3 2014 was Hyrule Warriors? If the game will be released this summer (august is summer to Nintendo), the E3 2014 will fit perfectly to open the curtains and talk about it.

Of course it can also be that Hyrule Warriors can be discussed in a future Nintendo direct, or that the game will contain a demo for the real Zelda. But what if Hyrule Warriors is the only one showed this E3?
