You are.... deliberately misconstruing what is goign on. Sony was just giving away free PS+ games anyway. This is a way of reducing the cost of getting the console and the most desired game for it - a backdoor price cut so they don't have to say 'We cut the price $60 just five months after launch.' Saving face.
Heh heh... backdoor. But seriously, you can be a Sony fan and still be reasonable about understanding this move, can't you?
