No, there is no one game that suddenly lifts a console and then sustains that sia rise in hardware sales. no doubt Halo will have a big week for both software and hardware, but it won't be what keeps the XB1 afloat if sad turn-around happens

Monster hunter for 3ds? Pokemon X Y?

Monster Hunter 3G released around the same time as a price cut, Mario Kart and 3D Land.

Pokemon X/Y and Monster Hunter 4 released when 3DS already had 2D Mario, 3D Mario, Mario Kart, Animal Crossing, Luigi's Mansion, Fire Emblem, Kid Icarus, Resident Evil Revelations, Ocarina of Time 3D, Star Fox 64 3D, Nintendogs+Cats, DKC Returns 3D, Dragon Quest VII, Dragon Quest Monsters, Tomadachi, Mario & Luigi, Kingdom Hearts 3D, and a whole bunch more.

There was no single game that suddenly helped 3DS, it was a combination of affordable price plus consistant schedule of quality software.

This... So very much this.

I just saw u gave him pretty much the same answer, great minds think alike

But ya I dont get why some think the majority of people buy a system for 1-2 specific games. Halo is certainly a big franchise and will push consoles but if u look, 360 sold over 50m more than Xbox yet Halo only saw a 3m increase. That shows Halo doesnt need a huge install base in order to sell extremely well.

Exactly, for example both PS3 and Vita have Uncharted games, but one has done way better than the other. The reason? Look at the rest of the PS3 catalogue compared to the Vita one

So yeah, you tell him :)
