I think the Wii U is going to have a rough year. Mario Kart 8 and Super SMash won't be enough to drive sales forward. They are tired franchises that are showing low pre-order numbers. It's pretty clear that they won't send the Wii U skyrocketing to acceptable levels.
I stand by my prediction and think that the Wii U will see an absolute turn around... to the other way around though. I think that the Wii U will sell -5 Million units this year.
The reasons for my weird ass prediction are because I think that Wii U will be seen as an inferior product than it's competition. Nintendo's IP are clearly showing it's age and nothing is going to save this console. I think that by the end of the year Nintendo will discontinue the Wii U and retailers will return about 5 million Wii U. By 2015 retailers will have given back all the remaining Wii U's and Nintendo will focus on it's next system.
3DS having it's peak year will die a quick death because it lacks compelling software for 2014. I think 3DS will end up with 50 million sold by 2014 and Nintendo will discontinue the system.
I think Ouya will take Wii U's place and go on to sell about 3 Million units on 2014. It will end up with 20 million when all is said and done.
Xbox One will have a rough year thanks to it's price and will end up selling 3 million on 2014. It will end the year with 6 million. It will do so bad because of it's price but after a price cut on december 2014 the Xbox One will be a good competitor for 2015.
As for my PS4 prediction I think we will se one of the most mind blowing sales for a console in history. Thanks to Sony having virtually no competition at all, Sony will make sure to stock PS4 in excess and go on to sell 50 million by the end of 2014. How will they end up manufacturing 50 million PS4 for 2014? Well that's really simple actually. They have millions of PS4 stocked, Sony prepared for years for this day. Ever since the PS3 initial failure. For now they are just manipulating demand. They will start rolling all the PS4 in 2014. It will be huge.
Also an interesting thing to tihnk about is the rubber in the PS4 joysticks! It rubs really easily right... how did it wear down so quickly... Well that's easy. PS4 controllers where in boxes waiting to be sold for years. The rubber in the joystick started to degradate. Think about it.
