I meant in total. Sorry for the confusion.

I don't think he was confused.  The Wii U is just over 5 million with only one more full week of 2013 tracking to go.  Historically a week ending several days after Christmas tends to see sales drop.  We don't have much in the way of official numbers for the week ending the 28th, but we have gotten the percent changes for some software in the UK, and they were all down.

With that in mind, the Wii U will likely be at less than 5.4m next week.  That would leave 2.6m or more for the first three months of next year to hit the top end of your prediction.  In comparison, the full year of 2013 will end up being somewhere around 3.1m.  It took the Wii U 51 weeks in 2013 to hit 2.6 million for the year.  Sales would need to be up YoY by about 333% for that quarter.  Average weekly sales of 200k, an amount the Wii U has only managed on Black Friday and in December.

Unrelated, but apparently the yearly charts update the yearly amount, but not the total if all the charts aren't out yet.  Made the numbers very confusing for a minute.
