The Wii stopped what had been 3 consecutive generations of decline in terms of home console sales for Nintendo. The fact that it had virtually no quality 3rd party support shows just how powerful an innovative concept and quality marketing can be. Some things could have been done better, especially towards the latter end of the system's life, but I think Nintendo played it as best as they could have for the most part. Time will tell what the lasting impact of the Wii will be but when you look at things that are now standard like Kinect, which was clearly a response to the motion control the Wii introduced, there's no doubt it left a clear mark on the industry. When you factor in the amount of money it made, I would definitely say it was a win for Nintendo.

Never argue with an idiot.  They will drag you down to their level and beat you with experience.
