I have been playing it on ps4 for the past couple days. The racing is good, solid 30 fps, no screen tear, but with judder as stated by DF. (Their internal engine works in 1/60 increments instead of 1/30 so while it renders 30 fps the timing is off now and then) Patch coming I think. It looks great, the extra resolution helps with spotting oncoming traffic in time between all the chaos and effects. (Especially since I like to play in first person view that puts the camera pretty low to the ground)

The arcade style driving feels great, very responsive. The open world design choices are hit and miss though.

Good things:
- You can instantly challenge other drivers to a race.
- No need to stop driving after a race, simply boost on to the next challenge.
- No interruptions after a race, no annoying 20 what you all won screens.
- In multiplayer you see other people doing their races and you can help, interfere, or do events together simply by starting one at the same time.

Bad Things:
- No pause, not even in single player mode. Game keeps going while you try to look at the map or try to select a next destination.
- As a racer you are never safe, cops will bust you. You have to go back into the hideout to be safe.
- You need to go back in the hideout to level up and bank your speedpoints (currency). You lose them all if you die or get busted. That wouldn't be so bad if it weren't for the annoying load times.
- Even if you go back to the exact same place when leaving the hideout, it still needs to reload the level.
- No dedicated servers. I gave up on doing career in all drive (multiplayer) mode as it would disconnect and migrate the host in the middle of my single player events, completely screwing up the event, and more annoying load times.

The racing is solid and as addictive and 2010's Hot Pursuit, but I wish they had kept Most wanted's multiplayer mode instead of sacrificing pause and adding extra load screens in career mode.
