So here we are guys and gals. Only 3 - 4 weeks out from the beginning of next gen. Exciting times for the industry and very exciting times to work in the sales part of this industry. I just wanted to touch on a few thing's I've seen floating around on the Internet regarding sales.
1. There is no bomba here. Anyone suggesting either PS4 or X1 will be a flop at launch and that their preferred console will annihilate the other is in for a rude awakening. The PS4 / X1 launch will be the biggest the industry has ever seen.
2. The winner goes to who can manufactur the most. Neither Sony nor MS are anywhere close to hitting demand. Expect consoles to be difficult to find until January or so at the absolute earliest. Currently its looking like Sony is in the best position production wise but X1 is gaining ground and adding more consoles for pre order.
3. Cross gen games will rule the sales. COD, Battlefield 4, and AC4 will be the software leaders at launch so expect more of the same there. Killzone, Ryse, Dead Rising, and Forza should all see success as well.
In closing get ready for an amazing launch of next gen hardware and software. The industry is in an amazing position and the next 3 or ao months will be amazing for sales. There are some questions on how these consoles will perform in the long run but sales should stay strong throughtout much of next year with a steady stream of titles such as Infamous Second Son, Titanfall, Driveclub, and Watch Dogs all due in the first half of the year.
