Your first two points are wrong.
Similar things has happenened in the film industry and though the movies raised the bar in terms of quality or budget
other movies have been (and still are) produced without getting close to budget,effects or quality.(btw the script is pretty shitty)
There is always room for coexistence.Others haven't stopped making movies because of 2001 or blade runner were so far ahead of their time.
