No. Wii U will need all the juice it has to stay relevant in 4-5 years time. People like to say Wii died off because Nintendo stopped supporting it, but the real reason is it died because a) people get bored with consoles after 5 years or so and b) it didn't have HD. That second one is a biggie, the system just looked really dated on HDTV's next to PS360. Wii U is pretty respectable, power-wise, and it will need to be. If it was too weak it would run the risk of looking very dated in a few years.

Wii U lacks several things that Wii had:
-A very fresh design
-a mind-blowing new interface
-years of people ignoring Nintendo waiting to return
-the virtual console (people forget now how amazing it was to be able to access those old games, and how this aspect of online was way ahead of the competition at the beginning).
-two outstanding - and very different - launch titles in Wii Sports and Zelda:TP
-A much-hyped Mario Galaxy shown before launch and coming within the year.
-much more expensive alternatives.

The idea that Wii was weak being an advantage just isn't true. It was the above factors that helped it, and making Wii U weaker wouldn't make those things happen again.
