Let's be honest here, nobody hates sequels. They just hate sequels to franchises they don't play. It's not about originality, it's about "why aren't you making games for me". I buy consoles mainly for sequels. I bough my Wii U so I could play New Mario and new Smash. I'd kill someone for a Mega Man Legends 3. I <3 sequels. Just not Call of Duty sequels. I don't like that franchise so fuck them.

I also like big budget games. With lots of explosions and shiny graphics and cutscenes and the works. I like the kind of polish that huge budgets buy (except for Bethesda). I like when my friends play the same games so we can talk about how mind blowingly awesome they are.

Noone has a problem with indie games. I like them well enough, but they're not why I buy a console. They're good to have, but they're not a substitute for sequels. Especially not those juicy big budget sequels.

I loved the first two Assassin's Creed games and liked Brotherhood quite a bit. At that point, though, I was already getting the feeling they were starting to milk the series and guess what: I was right! Since then, my interest has died, when the series had the potential to become one of my favorite games series, just because they pushed too many games in too short time frame with too few new features. I certainly don't mind sequels but when it's obvious they're not focusing on quality... Yeah, that's when sequels get bad. I get why you like Mario, I heard they're pretty much all great. Unfortunately that's not the case with most franchises.

I'm going on the assumption that the sequels are good.
