Will good holiday 2013 sales from the Wii U help bring 3rd party games to the system next year?

Probably not. 3rd party support on the Wii U will most likely be poor or mediocre for the rest of the system's life. I doubt Nintendo cares, their consoles sell because of their exclusives not because of multiplatform games or hardware anymore.
