This is a bit inaccurate. The Xbox One and PS4 launch/day one editions have sold out on Amazon multiple times, because they would get a higher allotment and re-open them. At least that is what happened with the Xbox One day one edition. Up until today, the Xbox One Day 1 Edition was vastly outpacing the PS4, and was at the top 1-5 spots for several weeks. It appears to have dropped sharply after they sold out this last time. Xbox One's have been "sold out" at Gamestop stores for ages now. Only online orders have been available. While the PS4 just recently sold out of stores/online. I do not know why the Xbox One would still be available online and the PS4 wouldn't. Perhaps MS still haven't given firm allotment numbers/production estimates. |
It was outpacing it in the Best Sellers for the hour, partly due to the PS4 having multiple SKUs. But, in the best sellers for the entire year, the launch edition PS4 quickly rose up to #3 and has stayed there.
I highly doubt that the Xbox has done a complete reverse of the PS4 at Gamestop, selling out in stores before selling out online instead of selling out online, first. You may mean that the Xbox has sold out in the stores near you, but I doubt its across ALL stores when they are still available online.
