My favorite sports games are usually by Nintendo, Camelot, Tecmo, Midway, Sega, or Konami. There are lots of companies making sports games.
For example-
NES- Blades of Steel, Punch Out, Tecmo Bowl
GB- Mario Golf, Mario Tennis
SNES- Super Punch Out, NBA Jam
Sega Genesis- Joe Montana Sports Talk, NBA Jam
PS- Hot Shots Golf
PS2- Virtua Tennis 2, Hot Shots Golf 3
Wii- Wii Sports, Wii Fit
If you like EA's sports games then please buy them but I've always passed on them. If I ever see a Madden game I like, I may get it used (for less than 1/2 price) once the next year's version comes out. I'm hoping Madden 09 is actually good so I can get it in the fall of 09 but I have my doubts about EA's ability to make what I consider a good Madden game.
So to sum up, besides some of the little showelware companies, EA is the only company that has never produced a sports game I like. They just have nothing worth playing.
