I wouldn't say that it would be the "definitive new leader in the next-gen war" if it didn't outsell Wii. And the next-gen war is not (only) about formats.
It's like saying "he will be the new leader of the tennis rankings" and assuming that everyone knows it's not counting Federer, because he's special and everyone knows that.
Edit: to clarify; everything in the article was fine except for the last sentence.
