I'm not wrong about anything. Just stating that Japan isn't irrelevant. I'm sure MS is happy it still sold 1.6 mil XBox 360s and 12 mil in software. They put a dent in an extremly tough market to sell. Maybe they won't try as hard this time to push the XBox brand in Japan, but they still have the potential to sell 1 mil + to the Japanese fans they made over the years. As long as they don't push a big campaign like they did with the 360 in Japan; I'm sure MS would love to sell 1mill XBox One consoles for profit. I'm almost sure that even though console sales shrunk in Japan over the years into a more handheld driven market. The XBox actually grew as a brand from the Original XBox to the 360. Seems like there could be some potential. Maybe just pocket change to MS. I'd rather have pocket change than nothing at all. Just a thought. I'm not saying your wrong either as I completely understand where your coming from. Really I care less what MS decides to do in Japan. Market trends can also have an adverse effect over the years. As of right now the UK is growing in console sales, while Japan is shrinking. I've been a member of this site for more than 6 years (my other profile is Nanaki XII that I lost my email and password to). I know exactly how all these numbers work. Things change and some don't. But nothing is irrelevant. |
For Sony or Nintendo, sure Japan might be important. But even for them numbers are down and will continue to drop next gen. For MS the region is entirely irrelevant. They will release the console there and it will sell some but they won't cater to them in any meaningful way or try very hard to do a thing there because it is a waste of time for them.
