Racism is just words (at least in the context of these cases) ultimately harmless but violent conduct is a lot more telling and lasting.


You don't though, you typically get three matches for violent conduct and for racism you get 4 (Terry) or 8 (Suarez). For whatever reason the FA think biting is worse than punching someone, trying to ruin their career with a leg-breaking challenge or racially abusing them. On a totally unrelated note, good thing Cameron waded in on the argument, eh?

The FA aren't saying that biting is worse than racism.

He's getting a 10 game ban because not only has he been in trouble before, he has bitten before (i.e. repeat offence).  

If he makes racist remarks again he will no doubt get a ban in excess of 10 games.

Although the FA have to change after that McManaman tackle... that was a complete joke!
