I think its safe to say at this point that DMC 2 will not be coming out.

Yea, it's unfortunate. :/ And it wasn't a bad game. On the contrary, it was a pretty decent title, and what most people don't seem to get a lot of the issues in the game were intentional in order to show how Dante will progress over time (not the technical issues of course). I wanted to see their  vision to be honest. I've been a fan of the series since the first game in 2001, but I have to admit, the weak sauce approach in the last few games got old. Ah well ...
