I like the concept of listening mode but what it looks like when you use it just looks out of place and ugly.  I mean Joel will definitely have heightened sense to be able to listen and figure out where the enemy is located with the outline through the wall being a visual representation for the player.   Since the demo is pre-alpha then it could change in the final product.
