Looks interesting. The main challenge is the already saturated market, even MS is doing badly and the situation is between Google and Apple. Ubuntu has some advantages, like the full desktop mode when docked (you can install Eclipse, LibreOffice and any other software that you can find in a regular Ubuntu machine) and the integration with thin client techs to run remote Windows apps in corporative environments.
It looks like Samsung is searching alternatives to Android, to lower their dependence of Google (it's good to have options, at least it will help in negotiations with Google), so it can find a niche to start, maybe with low/mid-end phones. Despite all that, I will surely buy an Ubuntu phone as soon as I find one.
