I need a graphics upgrade, so I'll jump on it and get a few like I do every year.
On the Desktop side though it will more or less be the kind of jump you expected from a Radeon 5970 > 6970.
AMD would have a greater understanding of the fabrication node this time around, yields will be higher and they can do some small architectural tweaks and throw an estimated 20-25% more transistors at the performance problem without driving up energy usage.
It also HOPEFULLY means that the Radeon 8970's won't be $750 AUD each which is what I paid for my 7970's on release and more inline with $500 each like the 6970's were on launch.
