Marvellous AQL has admitted that Half-minute Hero 2 won’t release in the west unless the first game can demonstrate stronger sales performance.

Marvellous recently asked fans if they’d be interested in seeing the sequel release on PC, but producer Esteban Salazar said the company was merely “trying to gauge interest”

“It’s considerably more expensive to put out the sequel and we need to sell a lot more of the first game on PC to begin to justify it,” he told Siliconera.

“The best thing fans can do to help along the sequel is encourage their friends to buy the Steam version (or buy it for them) – something that will be a little more appealing during the holidays.”

Half-minute Heros is currently on sale on Steam for $5.99, down from $9.99; it was also released on PSP. The light-hearted pick-up-and-play RPG is a firm cult-favourite for its charming pixel art and quirky sense of humour.
