Why is it a problem?

You get people excited and thought the game will be worth every penny and more and you end up selling the crappy game to people that trust you to point them to some good games.

Take, for example, this game called Army Corps of Hell for PSV, http://www.metacritic.com/game/playstation-vita/army-corps-of-hell

It has a meta score of 57. That's way before an average game score of 80/100.

I remember seeing this game (among others) being praise numerous times on VGC alone, way before PSV was released. It was even called some sort of killer app by some members.

This problem seem to affect all platforms but the majority are on Sony platforms.

When you sell bad games to people, they'll end up hating the console because you sell them bad experiences. You end up dooming the console that you love. The cycle goes and you ended up dooming yourself.

So, please, stop dooming yourself. You know who you are.

There's also the problem of anti-hype, but that calls for another thread for another time.
