Hm... this has to be some sort of misunderstanding. I seriously doubt a money loving company (like all the companies) would make themselves not be able to get more money.

Sadly, apparently it's not.

Sadly, apparently, it is.

"Sabet said when she called Apple’s corporate customer relations an employee apologized told her she could buy an iPad online."

"The policy lists Iran as one of five 'prohibited destinations' that the U.S. holds complete embargoes against. Exporting, selling or supplying Apple products to Iran is strictly prohibited without prior permission from the federal government, it states."

Seems its more of a misinterpretation by some employees. Not an apple policy.

So it's a coincidence it happened to two different people at  two different store?  I'm asking, not being sarcastic.

If any such rule in a retail environment has the chance of being misinterpreted by multiple retail employees, it is a rule such as this one. I would say it's definitely a coincidence. For a company that seems to flaunt their views of intelligence and sophistication, it looks they are slipping in their training of employees who deal with their customers. They seem to put themselves on somewhat of a pedistal and because of that I wouldn't expect this from an actual apple store of all places where people are suppose to be knowlegable about the company they work for and the products they sell.
