Apple's brand image is a result of percieved quality that has very little to do with actual standards of hardware manufacturing. The perception comes from different areas such as usibility, software integration, aesthetique design and strong marketing among others.

Quality IS perceived, and it DOES incorporate things such as brand, aesthetics, etc.
