Not really, Sequels often score lower than their predecessors even if it is superior, I'm guessing because it makes less of an impact or game standards have risen in some way. One example is LBP and LBP2, LBP2 is definitely the superior game, but didn't have as big an impact as LBP and therefore has a lower average.
