Bungie had been involved with the world of Halo for just about 20 years now. And it’s time the two embark on two separate paths as both the game and company grow to become even bigger alongside with someone else. The company that’s best known for creating Halo has confirmed that Halo will be handed over to Microsoft on August 2nd, 2011.

By August 2nd, Bungie will officially be done with Halo, and all rights to the popular sci-fi shooter will be given to Microsoft. It’s an unfortunate end to a great run of gaming between the company and game, but don’t expect either of the two to slow down.

Bungie had signed a 10 year deal with Activison back in April which should keep them occupied in terms of game development for some time. Halo has even bigger plans, with a new trilogy about to be born by the hands of 343 Industries. Back at E3 2011, Halo 4, Halo 5 and Halo 6 were all confirmed with Halo 4 planned to be released Holiday 2012. But before the series is continued, 343 Industries will release a remake of Bungie’s original masterpiece, Halo: Combat Evolved, which will release Holiday 2011.

But only time will tell if both the game and company are still successful without begin carried by one-another.
