Is the Kinect good for xbox and gaming overall: Yes and of course it has added sales because this is entirely Microsoft's focus now. I look forward to the innovation it will bring down the line and how it will benefit innovative game play ideas.
But that same 50 million on advertising, and all of the R&D, manufacturing costs etc could have been re-directed to an approach which developed new games for the 360. First party exclusive games.
Which approach would have been a bigger shot of adrenaline is a question which could really never be answered.
All i know is that its obvious microsoft is looking at Kinect to maintain the 360 until their next system comes out.
There has been a serious drought of anything 360 lately (in my eyes) and I really just want them to announce the new system as soon as possible.
This is not a good feeling to have.
