if they just abandon upgrading their motion tech and just go with this hd screen controller i could see them making a profit at $300 but probably start by selling it for $350 to see how it does there since there will be no other next gen consoles on the market for another year or two. and while it will be competing with ps3 and 360 at launch because the graphics will be similar, this technology innovation/upgrade of the HD screen on the controller that should allow you to play virtual console, wiiware/cafeware, gamecube, non-motion control Cafe, and smartphone touchscreen-type games while the someone else is watching tv will probably be enough in consumers minds to put it on a different playing field than the ps360 rather than just another option.

if its only 3 times as powerful as the ps3/360 there is no reason why they couldn't sell just the console for $250 with a profit in a year and a half based on what the ps3/360 are now. now if the controller at retail costs like $60 (maybe they wouldn't get much profit from the controller sales at launch) now you've got a console that can sell for $310 with profit. throw in such intro software like the wii did with wii sports and you can sell that bad boy for $350 with healthy profit from launch. could probably easily knock that down to $300 in a year if the next-box comes out then.

and remember the controller will just stream from the system, so it just needs the display, not all the computing power. my guess is the screen would be on the low end of HD for cost reasons though, so like 720p, while the system will easily be able to display 1080p at 60fps on a tv screen.
