After announcing that it would be releasing Xenoblade Chronicles for Wii, Nintendo has confirmed that another Japanese RPG is on the way to the UK. This one is called Solatorobo: Red The Hunter and its coming to DS later on this year.

Nintendo has joined forces with Namco Bandai to bring this anime-style RPG to DS. It sees you taking on the role of Red Savarin, an anthropomorphic dog with the ability to take a human form. Described as an epic fantasy action game, it takes place on the mythical floating islands of the Shepherd Republic.

Red Savarin will battle with giant robotic "mecha" and other enemies as he explores the floating islands.

Anime fans may be pleased to learn that the anime graphics have been produced by some of the world's leading animators and manga names such as Nobuteru Yūki (The Vision of Escaflowne) while the movies and cutscenes have been designed by Madhouse (Marvel Anime, Ninja Scroll, DeathNote, CardCaptor Sakura).

The game is already out in Japan where it was on the receiving end of a 33/40 review score (9/8/8/8) in Japanese magazine Famitsu.

Now we just need The Last Story to be confirmed for a European release. That's the one RPG fans are waiting for!

Nintendo is localising another RPG, they are probably the best publisher of RPGs this generation.  A new DS RPG with cutscenes designed by the guys behind Death Note?  I'm without a doubt keeping an eye on this
