I just bought the HTC Inspire to replace my iPhone.

Android has its faults and plusses compared to iOS. It depends on what you want out of your phone but after a day with the Inspire, I don't see myself going back to Apple unless they drastically change their interface to keep up with Android.

Pro Android: phone choices (4.3" screens FTW), widgets (sooo nice), mountable as disk drive (goodbye thumb drive), more open platform for customization, Flash support (could also be considered a negative in my book, really)

Pro iOS: apps (Android Market is teh suck, doesn't even have Netflix support and the store is a freakin' mess), iTunes integration (better data/app management, though iTunes is bloated), future support is guaranteed (it all depends on manufacturer/carrier on Android and you could get burned)

Blackberry is a joke and Win Phone 7 just isn't ready for primetime yet. Maybe in a year it will be a viable platform choice.

If you go Android, look for a Moto or HTC phone. Do not buy a Samsung. Their OS update schedule is pathetic while HTC and Moto are tops at both hardware support and quick updates.
