Actually, 360 did less than the PS3 and Wii combined.  (3.5 - 1) + (3.5 - 2) = $4 billion.  360 has been out for 2 years, has a major cost advantage over the Wii (we are talking revenue here), has live to boost revenue by around 10%, has been out for 2 years so has an install base advantage for software sales, and already MS is under 50% of the only market in which it's doing well.  Of course WW looks far far better for Nintendo and Sony, and we are talking revenue, not profit.  Which is kind of funny, usually business compare profits to determine who is doing better but I suppose MS has to work with whatever narrow largely meaningless figures where they still have a lead (no matter how quickly it's shrinking).
