If Microsoft didn’t announced Kinect at E3 last year what would could the alternative have been in order to compete with Nintendo or even SONY that introduced Move?  Should they have created a similar version of the wii or move controller? From what I been reading the Move is fairly accurate so if Microsoft had made their motion controller that was just as accurate what would the marketing be like? Should they have not done anything at all?  What were their options?  I am especially interested in the responses from those that were and are still against Kinect.

My response would be that they needed to do something different that wasn’t just a better version of what we already had. That would also help when marketing the product as you can clearly showcase the differences.  Even if Kinect was less accurate than a Wii-mote or Move you could say well you don’t need a controller at all and Kinect can track your feet etc.  They basically took a risk similar to Nintendo and lucky for them so far it looks like it was the right decision.

So you're pretty much saying that if MS didn't announce something like the Kinect they should have announced something like the Kinect?
