did you watch the vid with NTheory, i think they have a very good philisophy. i mean i know you want some awesome Japanese game, and we're gonna get that with Bayonetta 2, (i think). Kamiya has said stuff to suggest its coming.

but i think they're right man. if you look at God of War, the reason people love it is because of the serious tone and the dark character and story. i think if you look at new Dante he will follow in that serious and gritty style. this fits in with Capcom's vision for getting more sales and more fans in the west.

i know at the moment a lot of fans are upset with new Dante, i was shocked as well when i first saw him. but now its kinda grown on me.

if you look at Dante from DMC4 hes so butch and the stubble ad the rolled up sleeves, and the open gloves. imo he dosent look that good. new Dante has a pretty cool attitude i think, and hes so thin and his face look vampirish, other worldly and definitly fits in with a demonic theme i think. so i think DMC reboot will be very good if they can keep the combat similar to before, but improve it at the same time.

 

 

Well, yes, I want an awesome Japanese game and we probably are going to get that with Bayonetta 2 but I'd rather get 2 awesome Japanese games (DMC and Bayonetta 2) instead of only one :P

I've never bought a God of War game because of the story since it barely has any :P (the same goes for DMC and Bayonetta :P). But let's say most of people who bought it was because of "the serious tone, the dark character and story"... Is that the reason why people buy DMC games? :P I think they buy them for the opposite reasons :P

NT wants to change everything I liked about DMC... the first DMC game I played was 3...

I liked the Japanese style of the game and NT (and Capcom) wants to make it "more western"

I liked the over the top action of the game and they want to change that to make it "more credible"

I liked it when Dante made fun of his enemies while fighting them and now they've made him boring in my opinion

I liked it how Dante was so strong he could let himself get shot in the head, stabbed with many scythes and stuff like that and be just fine and now they've made him so weak that he can get easily chained up and tortured.

I liked the music in the game and now they've changed that into... IDK, some other music style, lol xD

I liked the gameplay and who knows what they'll change that into... but having played the Demo for Heavenly Sword and Enslaved, I have to say I'm worried about that, too xD

 

When someone buys a DMC game, they look for Japanese over the top action with a not so serious story :P. If they give us the opposite then it'll be another audience who buys the game instead of the DMC fans.

If they had only changed Dante's design I wouldn't care so much... but they've changed EVERYTHING I liked about DMC and even if they bring the old Dante back it still wouldn't be a DMC game :P I don't care so much about Dante's design (I still prefer the "original" Dante, though)... I care more about all the other things I've mentioned that made me like DMC in the first place.

 

And I see nothing wrong with the old Dante... and I have no idea what makes the new one cooler than the old one...

I think these guys want to forget about their current fanbase and try to appeal to the "God of War fanbase". It sucks because I prefer DMC... and they probably will fail if they don't make it "more brutal" like God of War or Dante's Inferno.
