Should Sony convince Developers to stop making games for the ps2?

No way.

PS2 is highly profitable for Sony, it helps bring down the large loss on the PS3. Plus as mentioned above its really good marketing for the Playstation brand. People who have only bought PS1/2 are more than likely to be persuaded to buy PS3.
