Oh for god's sake. PS3 is not THAT supply constrained. Anyone who really wants a PS3 can get one. In other words, it's doubtful that it's hindering PS3 sales a significant amount. And if you're gonna use the excuse of it being out of stock in some stores, so is the Wii. [1]

PS3 stock may be hard to come by in certain locations, but it's not like the in 2006-2008 when you litterally couldn't buy a Wii unless you were willing to pay $200 extra or wait in line at 6 in the morning.

I wonder if people are gonna still be using the shortage excuse for PS3 when it's still selling similar numbers in August..[2]

1. Degree matters; if one is out of stock more often at more retailers (see amazon stock), it'll affect that console's sales to a greater degree.

2. I hope you can see how, if there were shortages from now till August, the shortage "excuse" would not be disproven.  Everyone would just be disgusted with Sony.  Further, august is months away, and so some natural decline might be offset by more supply...lower or similar sales in August therefore doesn't prove that PS3 couldn't sell 5k more per week now, or whatever.

@Kirby: not sure which group you are calling delusional fanboys, but I think it's beating up a straw man to suggest that PS3 fans believe that without the intermittant hardware shortages, PS3 would be outselling the Wii right now.  Few people believe that; I bet some people answering yes in this poll thought the PS3 might outsell Wii for 1 week or something; I bet some other people answering yes weren't PS3 fans...  But anyway, if alternatively you mean that denial of PS3 shortages is pure delusion, on the level of the Iraqi general saying that the Americans had been defeated, while US tanks rolled into the city in the background, I agree.
